Cheshire Independant Authorities
The Government has made the decision to split Cheshire into two independent authorities- west Cheshire and East Cheshire from April 2009. This has created uncertainty about the music ensembles run by Cheshire County Council. At the moment very little is known about the future. As "Friends of CYO" can we suggest you write letters to your local councilor and Member of Parliament encouraging their support in the development of Cheshire Youth Orchestra and Cheshire Youth Training Orchestra and ensuring funding remains in place.
Auditions 2008
The Cheshire Youth Training Orchestra will have an open rehearsal on the first rehearsal of each new term where any new players can come along and try the orchestra out. Auditions will be fixed after that.
The auditions for the Cheshire Youth orchestra for seating in September 2008 will be held for the strings and brass sections during normal rehearsal time in the Summer term. the woodwind auditions will take place after one of the normal rehearsals starting at 1pm. percussion auditions if needed will be arranged by Laura.
Future Events
If you have any ideas about future events that would involve the participation
of both Orchestras, then please get in touch.
If you are aware of a venue that may be suitable for the Orchestras to perform
at then we would like to know. We need to consider the acoustics of the venue,
facilities such as rooms for the musicians to get changed in, car parking etc.
One of the most important things is the cost of the venue. Free is Good. The
venue also needs to be big enough to accomodate both the Orchestra and the
audience.
If you work for a company that would like to sponsor an evening of Classical
Music as part of its community strategy then please get in touch. If
you are a member of a Rotary Club or similar organisation feel that the Orchestra
